About Carpe Diem Community Solutions

President Lynn Gager-Cherry founded Carpe Diem Community Solutions in April 2003.

Carpe Diem Community Solutions was formed to provide solutions and build communities and organizations.

The Carpe Diem Community Solutions team are veterans in the field. We have worked at a local, regional, state and national basis. The depth and breadth of our knowledge will help your community or organization reap truly competitive advantages.

Lynn Cherry

As President, Lynn has served as public information officer, trainer, program developer, and leader. Her extensive experience in moderating and facilitating group discussion encompasses focus groups, board retreats, strategic long-range planning, visioning, and community forums. Lynn has received numerous awards from local and state organizations for her leadership in community-based programs. She has successfully grown a client base of governmental entities, non-profits, and community organizations.

She pioneered and created the first partnership between the Kettering Foundation and a community college. Subsequently, she served as director of the Kettering Foundation’s Public Policy Institute for eleven years. Lynn created and directed the Kellogg Foundation’s national award winning Citizen Leadership Institute, a statewide citizen-based leadership training program. Lynn is an accomplished trainer in moderating, leadership, strategic planning, visioning, and community development. She is certified in charrette systems. Lynn has a Master’s Degree from Florida State University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Auburn University.

Tommie Speights

Public Involvement Associate Tommie Speights worked for over twenty years with the Florida Department of Transportation planning, developing, and implementing public involvement district-wide processes. He successfully supervised all public involvement activities including developing, approving, and implementing Community Awareness Plans in a sixteen county area for the FDOT D3. Additionally, he led the District in working with government officials, media, community organizations, and various stakeholders to answer and disseminate information. Tommie is well known for his vast knowledge of communities in northwest Florida and for his ability to execute public engagement materials for citizens and stakeholders.

His comprehensive experience in media, communications, marketing, and public relations includes working as a television news reporter and anchor for CBS affiliate WTVY-TV 4 News in Dothan, Alabama for fifteen years. He covered the northwest Florida area for the station. He studied general studies and speech and communication at Chipola Junior College. He has completed the FDOT Leadership Academy and several levels of FSU’s Managing Government programs.
